The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines a brownfield as a "real property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contamination." APPLIED ENVIRONMENTAL has experience assisting in the redevelopment of brownfield sites. APPLIED ENVIRONMENTAL staff has assisted several clients in finding and acquiring brownfield incentives including Brownfield Tax Increment Financing (TIF), Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes & Energy (EGLE) grants and loans, and various other tax exemptions and abatements. As part of these projects, APPLIED ENVIRONMENTAL staff have completed Brownfield Plans and Act 381 Work Plans and has developed relationships with EGLE Brownfield staff and various Brownfield Redevelopment Authorities.
